Happy New Year - Three Strategies for Goal Setting

Pirates, I hope you had a great holiday season. On behalf of the Pirates MP Team, Happy New Year! It is a fact that million of people set goals at the beginning of the year, and sadly, about 80% fail to achieve them. Many of those don't last even two weeks. The good news is that our goal- getting numbers is much higher for some of you Pirates, especially those in the DSL. Based on our conversations and reviews of last year, more than 75% completed at least one of the goals you set at the beginning of the season.

Let's continue to set the standard and go even higher this year. Here are three basic tips for your goal-getting this year:

  1. Have Specific Goals - say, I want to work on flexibility three times a week or read 10 minutes a day. Don't just say, "I want to strech or read more."

  2. Be Realistic - if you did not stteatch as much last season, don't just jump to every day. Look at your schedule and make your goal as realistic as possible.

  3. Lastly, have an accountability plan. Let a teammate, mentor, or coach know what you plan to do and how you will do it. Permit them to hold you accountable.

Let's have fun this year completing these goals. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon and ready to get after it this season.

Yours in Performance,

DrM
